The Culmination.

From the beginning of the Marvel Comics Civil War event, I've not only followed it, I've been all OVER it. The fighting between Iron-Man's Pro-Registration forces and Captain America's Secret Avengers has kept me on edge and intrigued. In key moments I have felt all the right emotions- anger, excitement, sadness, joy- The books were fantastic, and I eagerly devoured 1-6 with such zeal that I imagined that I knew what it would be like to have been reading the initial adventures of the Fantastic Four or the Avengers in the mid-sixties.

I just read book 7, the last one in the series. And, I'm not going to spill any details, just because I know for a fact that everyone hasn't read the series yet. If you don't care to read comic books, the synopsis can be found here.

Words fail me. What's even worse is the fact that I knew that it was coming. Literally. I have so many thoughts flying through my head right now, I think they might explode.

I miss him already.

may I beg a loan of your Civil War comics? I've read em, but I think it's time for a re-read.

I haven't read Civil War, but what you just said shocks me. Not the part about someone dying; it's a Marvel comic- whoever he is, they'll find some way to bring him back. No, my big "WTF?" was for Captain America leading the anti-Registration faction. I would expect, oh, Thor or one of the mutants or something to hold that title, while the conservative "patriotic" Cap... well, seems the type to back any and everything George W. tells him to do.

My dear Null, you seem to confuse 'patriotism' as a synonym of 'conservative'.

I am a great patriot. I love this country more than it could ever know. That is why I favor withdrawal of our troops, and summary [NSA scanners would gravitate towards this section] of the current administration.

Captain America is the same sort of patriot. He's looking out for America, not the douchebags that run the joint.

I will note that, as a primarily graphic novel-oriented comic fan, my sole experience with the Captain comes from a few trades in a couple Ultimate series'. I do not have them here for reference, but everything I saw in them gave me indications not simply that he supported his country unconditionally, but that his attitudes in general seemed to conform to those of our esteemed president. I vaguely recall that his encounters with the X-Men (my favorites) had a profound effect on my beliefs. As I have limited experience, I could easily be wrong.
